Earlier this week the Denver Nuggets players, cheerleaders and mascot starred in a parody music video of a Taylor Swift song.

Now it is the turn of another NBA franchise to try their hand at making a music video, and unsurprisingly, it comes from the Dallas Mavericks.

There are no fans surprised to hear that known prankster and funny man Dirk Nowitzki was involved.

Nowitzki who can be known for his skills on the court but also for his musical ability and talent of making funny off-court appearances certainly shines here.

He along with team-mates Monta Ellis and Chandler Parsons have now created a Run-DMC inspired rap video.

Yes a rap video and it is one not to be missed as the Mavericks players give 100% to it and surely do give some impressive performances.

This is not the first time that Nowitzki has given us a showcase of his musical talents and it certainly won't be the last.

Just last month he was on a German TV show giving his best impersonation of German legend David Hasselhoff.

Nowitzki clearly has a funny persona off the court and he and new team-mate Parsons are clearly bonding very well.

From video to the court

While Nowitzki and his team-mates are clearly enjoying life off the court, they will need to find a way to translate that onto the court.

The Mavericks are 1-1 so far in this very short season after an opening game loss to the reigning NBA champion San Antonio Spurs.

They got their first win of the season on Thursday night when they hosted the Utah Jazz in their first home home game.

The Mavericks ran out comfortable 18 point winners with Nowitzki and Parson top scoring for the team with 21 points each.

Next up for the Mavericks comes a road trip to the New Orleans Pelicans who are 1-0 so far this season after an opening game victory over the Orlando Magic.
