Manchester United and Liverpool are set to go head-to-head in the pursuit of Cruzeiro midfielder Everton Ribeiro, according to the Express

The Premier League duo have both been linked with the Brazilian ace in recent time, and now it appears that they're prepared to bring him to the Premier League in the January transfer window.

It's been suggested that Ribeiro could be available for as much as £6 million, with Italian giants Juventus also reportedly interested in his signature.

The Serie A outfit, though, are seemingly behind both Manchester United and Liverpool in the pursuit to take him out of Brazil, but it remains to be seen as to which club will land his signature for the long term.

It's not surprising that both club are looking at bringing the Brazil international to England's elite division, as he's proved a great hit at Cruzeiro in recent time. At 25-years-old, the versatile midfielder still has his best years ahead of him, and could prove a great hit in the Premier League.

His pace and trickery would certainly cause havoc to defences in England, so both United and Liverpool fans will be hoping that their clubs do their upmost in order to lure him to the Premier League in the winter transfer window.

It's been suggested that both Brendan Rodgers and Louis van Gaal see the Brazilian as the perfect fit as they go in search of success this season. It's no secret that both clubs have struggled this term, so they may well be looking for a major boost for the second half of the season.

Manchester United and Liverpool will both be hoping to climb the league table over the coming weeks and months. Van Gaal's side are set to play host to Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, whilst Liverpool will be looking to bounce back after their Champions League defeat to Real Madrid as they take on table-toppers Chelsea at Anfield.
