Arsenal edge ahead in race to land Anderson Talisca

Arsenal are favourites to land highly-rated Anderson Talisca, despite the fact that he is valued by his club at £35 million.

According to the Daily Star the Gunners sent scouts to watch the Brazilian during his side’s Champions League clash with AS Monaco earlier this week. On that occasion Talisca scored the winning goal, ensuring that the reports sent back to Arsene Wenger would have been favourable indeed.

Plenty of competition

Naturally the north London giants face strong competition for his signature, and Chelsea are said to be hot on his tails as well, with Jose Mourinho looking to plan for the future.

On top of that it looks likely to be an arduous task to to convince Benfica to sell, with the Portuguese giants currently trying to offer him a new deal which will bump his release clause up from £35 million to £50 million.

Yet it’s believed that of all his suitors Arsenal are the favourites to move decisively, particularly with the future of German international Lukas Podolski looking increasingly uncertain due to his diminished game-time.


The Star’s report claims that initial enquiries have already been made by representatives from the Emirates Stadium, which indicate that Wenger certainly means business. With his track-record of developing youngsters so bright, it could well be that Talisca makes it easy for him by rebuffing Benfica’s latest offers.
