The wife of Angel di Maria, Jorgelina Cardoso, has taken to Instagram to deny claims that the Manchester United winger is unhappy at the club.

Di Maria only made the move to Old Trafford this summer, completing a British record £59.7 million transfer from Real Madrid. Having made an impressive start to life at Manchester United, Louis van Gaal would have been happy with his marquee addition thus far.

However, Red Devils legend Paul Scholes claimed that Di Maria looked far from happy in his new surroundings. He said that Argentine's body language was indicative of an unsettled individual.

Scholes causes a storm

Writing in the Independent he said: "Preparing for the broadcast of the game in Madrid this week, I watched reruns of last season and Angel di Maria smiling broadly as he celebrated goal after goal with Cristiano Ronaldo.

"He doesn't seem to be in the same happy mood at United. It feels downbeat among the team. All this, and yet the third and fourth places - with respect to the likes of Southampton and West Ham - really are there for the taking."

"You are free to think whatever you want, but in fact, Angel is absolutely happy of being in Manchester United"

The claims reached far and wide amongst Manchester United fans, who had already seen Di Maria linked with a shock return to the Bernabeu. Some reports suggested that a swap deal with Gareth Bale was possible. Florentino Perez wanted to get rid of Gareth Bale while Carlo Ancelotti wanted his star South American from last season back in the set up.

However, Cardoso has used her social media influence to calm the fears of Manchester United fans. She said that rumours of discontent could not be further from the truth, saying her husband was settling into life at Manchester United swimmingly.

She wrote: "You are free to think whatever you want, but in fact, Angel is absolutely happy of being in Manchester United... Buenas noches!!!"

Accompanying that clear message was a collage of her husband doing what he does best in the famous red shirt.
