Suso dismisses talk of transfer away from Anfield

Football News

Liverpool playmaker Suso has denied speculation linking him with a move to AC Milan through a statement by his agent, Jaume Serra.

The Spaniard has not made an appearance for Liverpool since he appeared in the club's Capital One Cup fixture against Middlesbrough in September. The former-Cadiz youth team player was tipped for the top at Liverpool after breaking into the first-team but his progress has stalled.

The Liverpool midfielder spent part of last season on loan at Almeria in Spain and reports earlier this season claimed he'd signed a pre-contract agreement with AC Milan to join the Italian giants when his contract expires at Liverpool at the end of the season.

But, speaking to Italian news site as reported by The Metro, his agent denied the reports.

"There is no agreement with Milan," Serra said. "Liverpool are pushing hard to make Suso extend his contract, so we can't rule out this possibility."

Good and bad news

So it's good and bad news for Liverpool fans who want Suso to stay at Anfield. On the one hand, the agent has confirmed he has not agreed to leave but on the other, the language used isn't exactly one of a player committed to the club for the long-term.

The fact Suso has 'not ruled out' a contract extension suggests he's definitely considering leaving the club at the end of the season. And you can't really blame him, if it's his intention to get first-team football.

First team frustrations

Brendan Rodgers signed Adam Lallana for £25m from Southampton over the summer, a player who occupies a similar position to Suso. Add in the fact that Lazar Markovic also joined, Fabio Borini returned from a loan spell and Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling are also first-team regulars, and you can see Suso's potential frustrations.
