WWE: Who can replace The Authority?

The main event of Survivor Series has a big stipulation involved for one of the teams, if John Cena and his team can defeat Team Authority; The Authority will no longer be in power.

The likelihood is that Team Authority will find a way to overcome Team Cena and stay in control even if the match doesn’t finish fairly, simply because it seems like Survivor Series event doesn’t seem like the appropriate stage to destroy The Authority.

The majority of wrestling fans would suggest that a final WrestleMania showdown would be the ideal event to take The Authority out of power – which means Triple H also needs to stay on screen as he is such a valuable asset to the roster even in a non-competing role.

Then again, there have been rumours that Stephanie McMahon could be taking time off WWE television following rumours that she is pregnant, Stephanie is a big figure in The Authority and if she does take time off then it will always feel like a big piece of the group is missing and there is no replacement for her whatsoever.

So if Seth Rollins and co do come up short at Survivor Series, who would be able to take control of the WWE? Vickie Guerrero isn’t around anymore, we’ve already seen Booker T in charge, Brad Maddox is nowhere to be seen and let’s hope Theodore Long isn’t back on the scene any time soon; unless you’re a huge fan of tag team matches.

Here’s who I think could take control if and when The Authority are taken out of power.

The Hardcore legend has admitted he would consider taking on a General Manager role in the WWE if he was offered the job. He knows the business, he is passionate and he does follow the current product.

His appearance on Monday Night Raw to build up the match between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins was brilliant. We’re used to heels being in charge so Foley would be a great face General Manager because everyone loves him. Whether the WWE and Foley are in talks remains to be seen, but the WWE will need a General Manager who turns up every week to keep things in order when the heels run amok.

If the WWE want another dictator in charge then we could see the return of ‘People Power’. A lot of fans didn’t really warm to Laurinaitis and rightfully so, because his early days in charge saw a lot of wooden acting, he wasn’t believable, he made a lot of mistakes and quite frankly he couldn’t be taken seriously as a General Manager, we ended up hating John Laurinaitis the man, rather than John Laurinaitis the General Manager.

He did get better towards the end of his tenure as General Manager though, his confidence grew and he was being taken more seriously as a dictator-type of General Manager before he was replaced by AJ Lee. If he has improved in any way then Laurinaitis should be a contender for a General Manager role, as there aren’t many top heels right now who could run Raw and SmackDown.

We all know that sooner or later Sting will be a member of the WWE roster, where he will probably wrestle one match and hang up his boots once and for all. But that doesn’t mean he will completely disappear, as strong rumours over the past year have suggested that the WWE could use Sting in a General Manager role so that he can build his character amongst the fans who have no idea who he is before a blockbuster match at WrestleMania.

Sting can talk and he has the experience of being in charge as he was in a similar role in TNA before leaving so it wouldn’t exactly be a new experience for Sting. Like Foley, the fans would love him and he can be taken seriously in an authoritative position.

There are a lot of other options available as well, Ric Flair has been sitting in the side lines after passing a physical for the company, whilst Hulk Hogan was also rumoured for the role when he returned.

A lot of fans and other outlets have also had their say on who should be in with a shout, Christian has proven to be a popular choice as his in-ring career looks to be winding down but Vince McMahon isn’t someone who should be considered.

WWE fans – who do you think should replace The Authority when they are no longer in power? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Royal Rumble
