Premier League champions Manchester City are ready to do a player-swap transfer with Serie A holders Juventus, which will include two defenders.

According to talkSPORT City are keen on landing veteran Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juve and are prepared to offer Matija Nastasic as part of the deal, with the Serbian out of favour at the Etihad Stadium due to serious competition.

Nastasic has only featured once this season for Manuel Pellegrini, and that came in the season opener against Arsenal in the Community Shield, a game which they lost 3-0 at Wembley.

However, Pellegrini is a big fan of Lichtsteiner and is keen to sign the 30-year-old Swiss due to his versatility across the back-line. The Switzerland international can play anywhere across the defence and would provide a wealth of experience to the City team.

Pellegrini already splashed over £30 million on his defence in the summer and that was on signing Eliaquim Mangala from FC Porto, but so far the Frenchman has struggled in the Premier League.

Etihad Struggles

As for Nastasic, he was predicted a big future after swapping Fiorentina for City, but due to the serious competition at the Etihad, game-time has been limited and his development has stalled.

The Serb was set to leave the club over the summer, with Arsenal keen on signing him, but Pellegrini prevented the move from happening on transfer deadline day.

English Interest

As for Lichtsteiner he also has Premier League interest in his services, with both Arsenal and Chelsea scouting the veteran ahead of the January transfer window.

The Swiss is still a big figure in the Juve first-team and it would take a lot for the Italian champions to sell their defender, but with a younger player thrown into the deal, it may sweeten the potential transfer for the Serie A champions.
