WWE: Roman Reigns slams John Cena after recent comparisons

John Cena has been around the WWE long enough to know that, as one of it's top Superstars, he has to accept his fair share of criticism.

Whether it is from the fans or fellow wrestlers, Cena is no stranger to being called out often for the most trivial of things. And the latest to take a shot at the best in the business is a man many of the WWE Universe see as the guy to replace Cena at the top of the tree eventually.

Speaking to the Reno Gazette-Journal ahead of this weekend's Reno Comic Con, currently injured superstar Roman Reigns was quick to crush comparisons between himself and John Cena, slamming the veteran in the process with a couple of damning comments.

"For anybody to compare me to him is completely asinine," - Roman Reigns on John Cena comparison.

"Last time I checked, I'm 6' 3" 265 pounds, which is bigger than John Cena," explained Reigns after talked turned to his "mini John Cena" push.

"Last time I checked, my hair is long and jet black, and last time I checked John Cena's isn't.

"I'm way better looking and I'm way more athletic than he is so for anybody to compare me to him is completely asinine."

Clearly then Roman Reigns is not a fan of being likened to Cena and in fairness he has a point regarding their appearance and physique. To claim though that John Cena lacks athleticism is a bold statement indeed with the veteran Superstar having put his body on the line throughout his career in the WWE in order to maintain his position at the top.

Trading places?

Reigns might not like the comparisons but it certainly seems like he is inline for the 'Cena treatment' when he returns from injury in the near future.

He was being hyped up massively prior to having a hernia in the run up to the Night of Champions and judging by his popularity amongst fans it is expected Vince McMahon and co will continue to push Reigns in 2015.

Whether that comes at the expense of John Cena remains to be seen but it will certainly be interesting to see the two meet when Reigns does come back in the ring after these latest comments.

What do you think WWE fans? Is Reigns in line to be the 'next John Cena'? Has Cena's time at the top come to an end? And is Reigns really the more athletic (and better looking) wrestler. Let us know in the comments section below...
