Preston have completed the loan signing of Bolton Wanderers striker Jermaine Beckford.

Preston have secured the loan deal for Beckford until January. Beckford has been recruited to help reinforce their already impressive strike force as Preston have scored 29 goals in 17 league games and lie 3rd in League One.

However, form of late has evaded the North Enders and they are on a poor run as they have lost three games on the bounce and failed to score in two of those three games. This has come as a surprise to Simon Grayson and other considering Preston were unbeaten in nine and remarkably Preston won eight of those games.

Beckford is reunited with Simon Grayson having previously worked together at Huddersfield and Leeds United, when Beckford stunned the Old Trafford crowd with the only goal of the game sending Manchester United crashing out of the F.A Cup.

Grayson is convinced that Beckford has the quality to help Preston, given that Beckford has played in the Premier League for Everton and managed 9 goals in his first season. "He has played in the Premier League and everyone knows what he is about and I think its a big coup for us" Grayson told the Preston website.

Despite an impressive goal scoring record of 72 goals in 126 games (all comps) at Leeds United, Beckford has failed to create that sort of dramatic impact at any other club of his failing to hit double figures in the league.

Beckford has only scored twice in 16 appearances and neither of them came in the league but rather in the League Cup against League One side Crewe. Grayson does not seem concerned and feels Beckford has "a fantastic goal record". Grayson also believes that Beckford "will enhance the squad".

This is a good move for Beckford who will want to hit the ground running as he found himself in the cold for Bolton and it sure is cold in Bolton!
