Manchester City will be desperate to get back to winning ways, but face a tough task in taking on an in-form Swansea this afternoon.

They go into the showdown at the Etihad Stadium on the back of a 2-2 draw with lowly QPR which put them even further behind Chelsea at the top of the table, so nothing less than three points will do this afternoon.

Vincent Kompany returns to the starting XI for Manuel Pellegrini's team however David Silva is still some way away. The Spaniard is unable to kick a ball at the moment and will also miss the showdown in the Champions League against Bayern Munich in mid-week.

For Swansea, Jonjo Shelvey is available after serving a suspension but takes up a spot on the bench, while Nathan Dyer has overcome a knock to take his place in Gary Monk's team. The same can't be said of Wayne Routledge, who doesn't make the matchday squad.

Starting Line-ups:

Manchester City: Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany (C), Demichelis, Clichy, Navas, Fernandinho, Toure, Nasri, Jovetic, Aguero

Subs: Caballero, Sagna, Mangala, Lampard, Fernando, Milner, Pozo

Swansea: Fabianski, Rangel, Bartley, Williams (C), Taylor, Ki, Carroll, Sigurdsson, Dyer, Montero, Bony
