For many people, Steven Gerrard IS Liverpool Football Club and is considered to be one of the true greats to ever wear the jersey. However, since the sale of best player Luis Suarez to Barcelona in the summer, Liverpool haven’t had the best of starts to the Premier League season.

Gerrard has just this last year to go on his contract and reports have circulated that no contact has been made between him and the club to come to terms over a new deal. Reports also suggest that he is creating interest from Inter Millan and could very well be playing his football abroad next year if he is not wanted at Liverpool.

In recent interviews he has stated that he is not yet ready to hand up his boots and wants to continue to play past this year, he is 34 now and has been with his beloved Liverpool since he was a school boy. Liverpool is in his blood but he can only go with what the club are willing to offer him.

Many people believe that he will do something not too dissimilar to his ex-England team mate Frank Lampard, as he too was no longer wanted at his long-time home and has since found a move to the MLS and New York City FC, though is currently on loan at Manchester City.

Although they secured Champions League places for this campaign, it is looking less likely for next season as the quality just doesn’t seem to be as prominent without main man Luis Suarez leading the line.

With key players like Daniel Sturridge ruled out until early next year with a thigh injury things are looking bleak for Liverpool with a lot of the pressure landing on you Raheem Sterling’s shoulders.

Personally, I wouldn’t want to see Gerrard leave Liverpool as for me, he is Mr Liverpool. I hope that he can come to fresh terms with the club as it would be a shame to lose such an iconic player to a foreign league, like so many others…
