In partnership with the NFL in the UK

NFL fan tweets Ray Rice picture and immediately regrets it

Despite being one of the most talked about names in the NFL in 2014, former Baltimore Ravens running-back Ray Rice has taken a back seat amongst a great NFL season.

It is good to see that someone who brought a lot of controversy and shame to the league is barely even thought about during game day.

Despite him appealing the decision to issue him with an indefinite ban from the NFL, Rice is barely part of the headlines any more.

Despite his current status amongst NFL teams Rice is still recognised by fans out in the real world, and one has shown us why Rice will never return to the NFL.

A visit to the vet for Rice's pet has turned into a Twitter storm after he posed for a picture with a fan who later regretted her actions.

Rice was asked for pictures by multiple fans and was more than happy to oblige but one fan who snapped a shot with the former NFL star soon regretted it.

The woman he encountered in the vets later took to Twitter to express her regret.

"I just met Ray Rice at my work but I forgot he's the one who beat his girlfriend." - Veterinarians tweet about picture with Ray Rice

The tweet may not sound bad to read but when a strong expletive is placed at the start and a sad face is placed at the end, it shows how she felt about Rice.

The woman has since spoken with TMZ and since regretted her tweet claiming that what she wrote was a lapse in judgement.

"Ray was a really nice guy. It was a positive interaction, even though his dog was sick."

So clearly Rice is still happy to help NFL fans but the young woman's initial reaction to her realisation is arguably a signal of how far out in the cold Rice is.

Rice never to return

The Ray Rice issue has caused so much controversy and outrage directed towards himself, Commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL in general.

There have been demonstrations against Goodell and a few months ago it seemed almost unthinkable that he would still be in his job at this point.

But it seems that the NFL is in a much more stable condition right now with Rice still out indefinitely and Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson at least out until next year.

We are currently witnessing an unbelievable NFL season and the games are not being overshadowed by the negative events that happened in the off-season.

A re-instatement for Rice could once again see the league tossed into turmoil and who knows what would happen then?
