There are some surprise starters in the Manchester United reserve XI to take on Blackburn Rovers this evening.

First-team stars Adnan Januzaj, Ander Herrera and Jonny Evans all start for the Red Devils in the Lancashire Senior Cup tie at Leigh Sports Village.

The game, which will be shown live on MUTV, will also see goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard feature, whilst youngsters Tom Thorpe and Will Keane make the starting XI.

Important trio

Januzaj, who has struggled to find his best form for the club this term, failed to feature in the Red Devils' 2-1 victory at the Emirates against rivals Arsenal this past weekend, so will be desperate to prove his worth once again this evening.

Herrera, on the other hand, has only featured for the first-team on one occasion since fracturing a rib against West Ham United in September. With the likes of Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick currently ahead of him in the pecking order at the Theatre of Dreams, the Spaniard will be looking to get back to full fitness in the near future.

Manchester United fans will certainly be pleased that Jonny Evans is set to take to the field after a long spell on the sidelines. The Red Devils have struggled in the defensive department of late and the return of Evans will be a welcome site for Louis van Gaal and Co. at Old Trafford.

Confirmed team

Lindegaard; Janko, Thorpe, Evans, Vermijl; Pearson, Herrera, Harrop; A Pereira, W Keane, Januzaj
