This is a guide informing you on how to be the very best Philadelphia Eagles fan you can be.

Being an Eagles fan is very complex and is not for everyone, especially people with high blood pressure.

Down on Dallas

First, the most important trait of being a great Eagles fan is you must really hate the Dallas Cowboys.

This is the most entertaining rivalry in all of sports and if you disagree you just don’t understand the pure hatred both teams, and fans have for each other.

An Eagles fan must learn two words and be willing to belt it out at all times, "Dallas sucks".

Being an Eagles fan means you must not be insecure about their history.

You will encounter many fans that say the same line over and over again to get under your skin, “How many super bowls have the Eagles won?”

You cannot be embarrassed of the past; you have to learn to just believe we will have our moments.

Dealing with drama is very crucial in being able to represent the Eagles and every Eagles fan knows about that.

For some weird reason the Eagles usually find a way to make a game that seemed to be won into a very dramatic situation. For instance in this past thanksgiving game where we were dominating the Cowboys 23 to 7, Our most effective player of the game, LeSean McCoy fumbled in their red zone giving Dallas hope.

Luckily Dallas failed to take advantage, but you can rarely be stress free during a game.

Patience is a virtue, and that is especially true with Philadelphia fans. We touched on it earlier but our past is nothing to brag about in terms of rings, you must have patience and hang in with this team because the day is coming.

Immerse yourself

Being an Eagles fan is an all year round job. Sure the season is what most fans love to watch, but in order to really call yourself an Eagles fan you must be in tune with the offseason.

This team seems to always be in the news during the offseason, whether its with the draft (Donovan Mcnabb), Free agency (“Dream Team”), or controversial trades/ cuts (Desean Jackson).

When a friend asks you what your favorite song is, are you going to say a hip hop song or a country song? No, you’re going to say the Philadelphia Eagles fight song, and you must know every word of the Fly Eagles Fly anthem.

Tickets these days are very expensive and there is something about watching a game from the comfort of your home, but there is nothing quite like watching your birds play in the Linc.

Try to go to at least one game and experience the atmosphere, ask those who have attended. There are no fans that have the passion that Philly fans have, and just remember the steps you must take in order to call yourself a real Eagles fan.

Do not let the past embarrass you, be able to deal with stress, have patience, watch the sports news all year round, and be ready to always sing the Eagles anthem. Most importantly…remember to hate the Dallas Cowboys.
