Cristiano Ronaldo insults Javier Hernandez at Real Madrid event

Football News

It doesn't matter what Cristiano Ronaldo is playing; he wants to win every time. So when he and his Real Madrid team-mates were split into two groups for a racing competition at an Audi event, the Ballon d'Or holder was keen to get the best men on his side.

But the selection process was taken out of his hands and it is fair to say that Ronaldo was less than impressed with the people selected to be on his team. Joining Ronaldo was Manchester United loanee Javier Hernandez and second-string players Jese Rodriguez and Nacho.

Ronaldo appeared to throw his toys out of the pram and was filmed saying under his breath that he didn't think too much of his team.

His exact words, in Spanish, appear to be: "Look at the shit team you give me."

It may have been a joke, but Ronaldo doesn't really do jokes. His face says it all; this was him at his most serious. At least Hernandez, who this week was told Real Madrid wouldn't be signing him permanently, saw the funny side.

Ballon d'Or nomination

Maybe yesterday's news would have cheered him up. He was nominated alongside Lionel Messi and Manuel Neuer for the 2014 Ballon d'Or award.

The 29-year-old is vying for his second consecutive title and his third overall. He is favourite but with Messi breaking goal scoring records in La Liga and the Champions League, the impetus is with the Barcelona man going into the final stages.

The winner will be announced in a ceremony on 12 January along with the FifPro XI and the Puskas award winner.
