Brendan Rodgers begs Liverpool star Steven Gerrard to stay at club

The rumours may persist in claiming otherwise but Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that he wants Steven Gerrard to stay at Liverpool for the long-term future. The Northern Irishman delivered a heartfelt plea for his captain to remain with the club, and has envisaged a scenario wherein the ex-England skipper becomes his coach in the dugout. Gerrard has been hotly linked with a move away from Anfield to finish his career elsewhere, with talks over a contract renewal seemingly having stalled.
