Houston Texans star Andre Johnson was forced out of the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars today after suffering a concussion.
The wide receiver was on the receiving end of a huge hit from a Jags defensive back at the start of the second quarter that looked like it knocked the veteran out for a few scary moments.
Johnson got caught with a helmet-to-helmet hit while crossing the middle, lowering his head, and getting hit by Tevin Smith on a bang-bang play. His helmet came off, and Johnson appeared to be out momentarily as he crumpled to the ground.
Johnson fumbled after contact, but the fumble was overturned when Smith was assessed a 15-yard penalty. Ryan Fitzpatrick scored a rushing TD soon afterward.
It shows how bad Johnson was by the fact that he was ruled out of the game almost immediately after coming off the field.
It will be a race against time to see if he will be ready enough to face the Indianapolis Colts next weekend as the Texans face an uphill battle to make the playoffs just one year after being bad enough to have the number one overall pick.
