Radamel Falcao's wife hits back at Louis van Gaal claims

Radamel Falcao's wife has leapt to her husband's defence after Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal seemingly criticised his fitness.

Falcao is at Old Trafford on loan until the end of the season, and is fighting to convince Van Gaal that he is worth signing on a permanent basis next year.

However that is looking increasingly unlikely because of the striker's poor injury record this season; he's started just three games this season and scored just one goal in seven league appearances overall.

Manchester United will have to fork out around £43 million to Monaco in order to make the move permanent - and that's looking less and less likely with each passing game. Van Gaal's comments won't help either - he suggested ahead of Manchester United's clash against Southampton this evening that Falcao is not at full fitness and unable to play the full 90 minutes at St. Mary's despite being declared fit enough to make the squad.

'[He's been] selected... in spite of the fact he can only play 20 minutes at this level because the rhythm of the game in the Premier League is the highest," said the Manchester United boss.

However the striker's wife has seemingly disputed that claim. Lorelei Taron posted a picture of her husband in Manchester United training gear along with the message '100% ready to give everything !!!' written in Spanish on her Instagram page.

Her post has been interpreted by some as a shot back at Van Gaal, who has risked angering the forward for publicly questioning his fitness.

Despite the drama, things finally look to be going Manchester United's way at the moment having won their last four games in a row. A victory over Southampton tonight will not only extend that run but also lift them up to third in the Premier League.
