Former LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling has been in the news for a lot of bad reasons in 2014, now its time for a good one.

His intentions may be good but the act itself could be just as controversial as any Donald Sterling sighting this year.

When you own an NBA franchise, it is hard to ever see yourself literally dressing up as Santa Clause, but today, that is Sterling's reality.

The disgraced former NBA owner will be donning the red jacket and red pants in order to spread some Christmas cheer.

Sterling is set to be appearing as the most popular man in the world tomorrow at an event called 'Party in the Projects'.

It will be the ninth annual event of its kind and Sterling will be handing out gifts to the children of the Watts Housing Projects.

TMZ have reported that Sterling himself approached Youth Mentoring Kids - the organisation who have organised the event and wants to show up in a sleigh filled with toys.

With Watts having a population heavily influenced by ethnic minorities, it certainly is an interesting story that Sterling is eager to visit.

Sterling may be attempting to improve his image amongst ethnic minorities in the Los Angeles area but at the very least, some under privileged children will benefit from it.

Sterling back in the headlines

Donald Sterling has certainly been one of the most controversial names in 2014 and no matter how much rehabilitation his image way get, it's unlikely he will ever make a return to the NBA.

He has been out of the league ever since NBA Commissioner Adam Silver's lifetime ban was applied to him.

It led to a legal battle for the right to own the Clippers franchise which was finally and thankfully settled.

The Clippers have certainly rallied after last season's controversial ending to the year and are now at 16-5 so far this year.

They visit the Washington Wizards tonight and will be looking to increase their impressive win streak to 10.

The Clippers have been very impressive on their current run which has included big wins at the Houston Rockets and last years Eastern Conference runner ups the Indiana Pacers.
