Football News

Sometimes there is nothing better than going down to see your local team try and cut the mustard at grass roots level. The football pyramid is the pride of English football and if we don't take time away from the glamour of the Premier League to watch these weekend warriors, it would simply crumble away.

While you won't see the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Angel di Maria, you will get to see football at it's purest. No, wait. Sorry, I meant funniest.

And here we have the perfect example to back up that statement; possibly the funniest own goal you are ever likely to see.

The Dark Knight

But before we go any further, we should pay homage to the poor victim of this viral video. We suspect he doesn't get paid for his services to football and juggles his commitment to the game with a full time job.

While he may not be the best player on the pitch at this particular moment, so far he has yet provided entertaining to 122,334 football fans since the video went live on YouTube on Friday evening.

By scoring this own goal, he has brought more joy to fans than he ever could had he been anything like a competent defender. For that, we salute you, our mystery man in red. He is the Dark Knight of football, making the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good.

Enjoy the video!
