Fresh from a controversial victory over Hull at the weekend, Chelsea will be looking to reach the Capital One Cup semi-finals for the second time in three seasons with a visit to Derby’s iPro Stadium.

As Chelsea’s next match is not until Monday evening with a trip to Stoke, Jose Mourinho is expected to play a strong line-up.

Cesc Fabregas is set for a return to the starting XI, the Spaniard missed the game against Hull through suspension and Mourinho has said that Fabregas will play.

Thibaut Courtois remains a doubt, the Belgian missed Saturday’s game with a muscle problem and is set to miss out for the third game in a row so Petr Cech is likely to keep his place in goal.

It is likely that Chelsea will rotate several key players, Kurt Zouma will get another chance in the team at the expense of Gary Cahill alongside Andre Schurrle, Mohammed Salah, John Obi Mikel and Ramires, who could all be brought back into the side to give more senior players a rest.

Diego Costa could also be handed a rest with either Loic Remy or Didier Drogba taking his place.

Chelsea may include the youngsters Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who replaced Fabregas against Sporting Lisbon, and Andreas Christensen, who featured in Chelsea’s fourth round victory against Shrewsbury.

Predicted XI

Petr Cech, Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma, John Terry, Filipe Luis, Cesc Fabregas, Ramires, Mohammed Salah, Oscar, Andre Schurrle, Didier Drogba
