Cristiano Ronaldo almost pulled off stunning Rabona goal

Cristiano Ronaldo has been on fire of late, and has managed no less than 61 goals in 2014 for Real Madrid.

However last night he almost scored his best of the year, or in fact any year he's been playing professional football while on the pitch against Cruz Azul in the Club World Cup last evening.

The Portuguese superstar was showboating with Madrid already 3-0 up against their opponents and a place in the final already assured. The ball is tossed into the box from the left and falls to Ronaldo's feet - now usually in these scenarios he'd bury it without a second thought but this time he decided to try something different.

Ronaldo instead tried to 'Rabona' it home and although his effort was actually quite good he couldn't quite steer it past Jose Corona in goal.

Perhaps the only thing better than Ronaldo's audacious attempt? Well it has to be Carlo Ancelotti's reaction afterwards. He's not impressed. Pure. Gold.

Before then, Sergio Ramos has opened the scoring in the game in Morocco with a powerful header from a Toni Kroos cross, and it was striker Karim Benzema who doubled the lead.

Cruz Azul then spurned a golden chance to get back in the game when they missed form the penalty spot, and it wasn't long before Gareth Bale sealed the win with a close-range header. The best was saved for last as Isco danced wonderful into the area and fired a low shot into the bottom corner with just under 20 minutes remaining.

Real Madrid have earned the right to take on either San Lorenzo or Auckland City in Saturday's final. Despite the scoreline though, the game will be remembered for altogether different reasons.
