Luca Dominic produces contender for the most pathetic dive of 2014

Football News

Cristiano Ronaldo, Arjen Robben and Ashley Young can all rest easy for the time being, a new contender for the crown of football's worst diver emerged last weekend and pretty much has the dubious honour sewn up for the time being.

Our new villain goes by the name of Luca Dominic, a Croatian footballer plying his trade with Vasas in the Hungarian second division.

Dominic threw himself to the floor under contact from fresh air alone during a clash with Kaposvar last weekend, and unfortunately for him there's video evidence which shows just how utterly ridiculous his attempt to win a free kick truly was.

Hall of shame

The 21-year-old had a touch of Gareth Bale about him as he hurtled downfield with the ball at his feet, but can't even use the Welshman's well-worn claim of attempting to avoid contact after trying to draw a foul unsuccessfully.

In fairness to the youngster he does rather sheepishly attempt to laugh off just how awful his leap towards the sky truly was as he's handed a yellow card, but it just goes to show the scourge of modern-day football is rife well beyond the bright lights of the Premier League.

Reports across the continent went as far as to label Dominic's misdemeanour the worst dive of 2014, judge the effort for yourself in the video nasty below and see if you agree.
