We begin in the NFL where the Dallas Cowboys are celebrating securing playoff football for the first time since 2009. Jason Garrett's team clinched the NFC East title after destroying the Indianapolis Colts 42-7. Elsewhere the Seattle Seahawks showed their championship credentials in their 35-6 win over the Arizona Cardinals – accumulating a franchise record 596 yards on offense. Meanwhile in the NBA reports suggest that the Los Angeles Lakers are planning to rest Kobe Bryant over the Christmas period. Head coach Byron Scott said he plans to speak to the star who has been struggling with fatigue in recent games. And finally in the NHL the New York Rangers extended their winning streak to six games by beating the Carolina Hurricanes.
