When it comes to Divas in WWE, there is no denying that the industry struggles to maintain the interest and excitement it has with Superstars from its main roster.
When one of the few big-name Divas does not abide by the rules therefore, we can be sure to hear about the developing tension between her and the company.
It seems this has been the case for AJ Lee, who, despite her husband CM Punk being the one in the spotlight recently, has been criticised for several occurrences of late.
As reported by Wrestling Inc and sourced from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AJ is not exactly in WWE's good books at the moment:
"There has been a lot of negative talk about AJ within WWE lately. Her Slammy Awards acceptance speech, which wasn't scripted the way she delivered it, was seen as a big shot at every Diva on the roster except Paige. There was also some negative talk on her for taking time off to be with CM Punk in Las Vegas for UFC 181."
"It appears there was another incident with AJ also. She was removed from the WWE Main Event intro a month ago and that reportedly coincided with something that happened backstage, described as a "hiccup" with her. This happened before anyone in the company knew about Punk signing with UFC."
What is clear therefore is that her husband's signing with UFC has had a knock-on effect on her wrestling career. Understandably, she wanted to be by her husband's side during the announcement, but it is as if she had too little focus on her own occupation for WWE's liking.
This is disappointing news for the WWE Universe because when the Divas division is criticised so heavily for not being what it used to be years ago, the industry needs its best talent such as AJ to keep it on the map within WWE.
Even more bad news therefore came when it was recently announced that the 27-year-old is to be out of action for sometime with an undisclosed injury.
She was rumoured to be wrestling while injured in order for WWE to be able to wrap up the storyline of her Diva's Championship Title feud with Nikki Bella.
Her absence though as great a problem as it will be, does however mean that other Divas on the roster will have a chance to gain prominence by challenging for the Divas Title.
The current issues with AJ Lee therefore, as unplanned as they were, do mean that we should get to see a change for the better within the Divas division. With this in mind however, when AJ returns in 2015, it will be interesting to see the reception she receives following the recent events which have concerned her.
