Chelsea visit high-flying Southampton on Sunday afternoon knowing a win is essential if they are to maintain their three-point lead at the summit of the Premier League going into the New Year.

Rivals Manchester City host struggling Burnley later in the day and are expected to win easily, so Jose Mourinho must prevail in what is serf to be a tricky fixture against Ronald Koeman’s surprise package for this season.

There are rare Premier League starts for Andre Schurrle and Felipe Luis at St Mary’s, while the Saints call on youngster Matt Targett as they go in search of a third straight win.
