Southampton v Chelsea: Player ratings

Chelsea were left disappointed as they could only muster a 1-1 draw against Southampton at St.Mary's.

The result means that the Blues are now just one point clear at the top of the table from Manchester City, which will no doubt infuriate boss Jose Mourinho who demands perfection from his side.

He'll be more annoyed by the fact that his side failed to score despite being on top in the second half however, especially given the firepower he has at his disposal.

Want to find out who was to blame for Chelsea dropping points against the Saints today? Then read on....

Courtois 6.5: The big Belgian wasn't really troubled in goal too much but perhaps could have done more to put off Mane for his goal.

Ivanovic 5: Seems to have lost the form he was showing in the early part of the season. Wasteful when delivering from out wide.

Cahill 6: Looked solid enough at the back but didn't do enough with the ball when bringing out from the back. An area he needs to improve on.

Terry 7: The Chelsea captain looks good this season and while he didn't cover himself in glory for Southampton's goal he did everything else pretty well.

Filipe Luis 5: Given the chance to deputise in place of Cesar Azpilicueta. Did he take it? The five rating tells you all you need to know. Rubbish.

Matic 6.5: Not his best game in a Chelsea shirt but he still looked strong and actually contributed a lot going forward. One hell of a player.

Mikel 5: Looked rusty from not playing regular football. Gave away a few silly free-kicks that hurt Chelsea's rhythm.

Fabregas 8: Probably Chelsea's best player once more. He picked up yet another assist to add to his impressive tally and way always looking for a killer pass.

Schurrle 3: Hauled off at half-time for contributing very little during his time on the pitch. Just hasn't performed well all season and Mourinho must be running out of patience.

Hazard 8: The Belgian forward scored an absolute stunner of a girl and on another day would have bagged the winner.

Diego Costa 7: Chelsea fans would have been frustrated to see him subbed off as they went in search of a goal. Slipped when through on goal in the second half.
