Chelsea transfer target that rejected move at the last minute

The father and agent of Marseille star Gianelli Imbula has revealed that he rejected the chance for the midfielder to join Chelsea last year, as he didn’t want the Blues having full control over his career. Comments taken by Imbula’s chief representative confirm that the 22-year-old could have indeed moved to Stamford Bridge in 2013, prior to signing for the Stade Velodrome outfit, as negotiations were in place with members of the Chelsea hierarchy. However, Imbula’s father was put off by demands from the Blues camp, and so no deal materialised. In other news Jose Mourinho is said to be keeping an eye on Juventus ace Kwado Asamoah, ahead of a possible January transfer window raid. One player they won’t be signing is Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, as Mourinho has confirmed it’s impossible, though they might change their tact if Manchester City go ahead with their mooted £200 million transfer plans.
