Chelsea’s Jose Mourinho is the greatest manager in the history of football, surpassing even the achievements of Manchester United icon Sir Alex Ferguson, according to the agent of the Portuguese, Jorge Mendes.
Mourinho is only the fourth coach in history to have won league titles in at least four different countries and has also triumphed in the final of the Champions League on two occasions, with Porto and Inter.
Now back for a second spell with Chelsea, Mourinho is on course to clinch the Premier League crown for a third time with the club while they have been backed by many to record a historic quadruple this season.
There is little doubt that Mourinho is among the best of his generation, with Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti other candidates, but Mendes believes the Chelsea boss is above all others to have ever entered football management.
"Jose is the best coach in the world. In fact he is the best coach ever," Mendes said, as reported by Goal.com.
"He is only 52-years-old. Nobody else, in my opinion, has won so many trophies in such a period of time.”
Should Mourinho win the league this season then he will still be some 10 behind Sir Alex Ferguson in English football, with the retired Scot having lifted the coveted prize on 13 occasions during his time at Old Trafford.
But while Mourinho may never be able match Ferguson domestically - in England at least - he should, in theory, move past him in Europe, having already lifted the Champions League as many times as the 72-year-old did with Manchester United.
Chelsea are fourth favourites, attractive odds perhaps, to clinch the ultimate prize this season and a third victory in the competition would take Mourinho level with Carlo Ancelotti and Bob Paisley at the top of the tree.
