A number of Premier League clubs could change their transfer plans after Barcelona's ban was upheld, according to the Express.

The Catalan giants failed in their appeal to overturn a ban that will now prevent them from buying players in the next two transfer windows.

Barcelona, of course, were able to land Uruguayan superstar Luis Suarez in the last window, but they now won't be adding to their squad until 2016.

Barcelona Ban

A statement from the CAS said: "The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed the appeal filed by FC Barcelona against the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) regarding the decision issued by the FIFA Appeals Committee on 19 August 2014.

"In such decision, the Spanish football club was sanctioned with a transfer ban for two periods, a fine of CHF 450,000 and a reprimand after it was found to have infringed the FIFA regulations with respect to the registration of a number of minor players."

This news, then, looks set to change the plans of a number of England's elite clubs ahead of 2015. In fact, it has been suggested that the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been affected by the outcome.

Barcelona players to stay

It appears that as the Premier League clubs go in search of landing some of players from Barcelona, that the club will look to keep hold of their their top names.

The likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Gerard Pique and Pedro have all been linked with moves to England's elite division of late, but it appears that they will now stay at the Nou Camp, as the Spanish giants won't be able to replace them anytime soon.

Premier League boost

There is, however, some good news on the transfer front for the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Co., as they won't have to compete with the Spanish giants for the trio of Marco Reus, Kevin Strootman and Martin Odegaard.

It's certainly a boost for fans of Manchester United, with the club having been heavily linked with all of the players of late. It remains to be seen, however, as to whether they will press ahead with a move for any of the players' signatures in the upcoming transfer window.
