Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale was finally asked directly about much-rumoured transfer speculation concerning a blockbuster move to Manchester United tonight, but his response was bad news for Red Devils fans and could not have been more emphatic.
Bale is simply not interested in a Premier League return at this stage of his career, even indicating that he'd willing to prove how much he loves life in the Spanish capital by signing a new contract with Madrid if asked.
The 25-year-old featured for Madrid in a showpiece Dubai friendly against AC Milan tonight, but he'd barely been off the pitch five minutes before questions about his future where the number one topic of debate.
Time for United & Chelsea to move on?
Immediately after that 4-2 defeat to Milan the Welsh international is quoted by The Mirror as insisting: "Manchester United? I'm happy in Madrid. I love the city, the weather and the club. I'm eager to win more silverware here.
"I have a contract with Real Madrid until 2019 and could remain for more years after the end of it."
Ancelotti shares strong stance
It must be something of annoyance for both Bale and Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti that they have to keep shooting down speculation over his future, with the most recent story doing the rounds an astronomical £101 million offer from Chelsea.
Ancelotti was adamant after the Milan match that there's no question Bale will stay at Madrid, remaining a key part of his plans moving forward.
The Italian said: "Bale is one of our most important players. There is no issue, he will stay without question."
The message is clear from Madrid, Bale won't be following Angel di maria to Old Trafford and remains the man the club's vision for long-term success is built around.
