Steven Gerrard announces date for Liverpool exit

Tributes are pouring in for Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard after it was confirmed this morning that this season will indeed be his last at Anfield as a player. Leading the charge was Reds boss Brendan Rodgers who described the ex-England skipper as being more than a legend, and admitted that at times he had carried his club on his back. It’s thought Gerrard will see out his playing career in the MLS, though it has yet to be confirmed who will benefit from his decision to leave.
