John Harbaugh says Joe Flacco is the best QB in football

We are deep into the NFL Wildcard weekend and having already witnessed two divisional winners eliminated, we're wondering what other shocks the NFL play-offs will have in store for us.

Last night Joe Flacco led the Baltimore Ravens to a big play-off win over their fellow AFC North team the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Ravens won 30-17 in what was their first ever post-season win over the Steelers in history.

But as the Ravens bask in the glory and prepare to travel to the AFC's number one seed, the New England Patriots next week, their head coach John Harbaugh has made a fairly big claim.

Harbaugh has praised his entire team but has given his quarterback Flacco more praise than some, and a big point to prove.

Harbaugh has spoken about Flacco and hasn't just put him up with the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

"He's the best quarterback in football. We'll take him any day of the week, twice on Sunday or Saturday if that be the case."

To call Flacco the best quarterback in football right now is a fairly big claim given that his pass completion rate this season is only 22nd in the league.

Flacco threw for 259 yards last night and had two touchdown passes with no interceptions and just the one sack.

His coach may be willing to label him the best quarterback in football right now, but he will have a long time to go before he can convince many others.

The best against the better?

If Flacco is the best quarterback in football, he will be going up against a man who is ahead of him in touchdowns, yardage and completion rating this year.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will be welcoming the Ravens to Foxborough in the play-offs for the third time in the last four years.

Flacco has far from lit up the NFL this year as his Ravens team could only secure the 6th seed in the AFC.

Harbaugh's claims are certainly unusual with the Indianapolis Colts' Andrew Luck largely being regarded as the best quarterback this season.

If Flacco can take the Ravens to the AFC Championship game and overcome the Patriots however he may be up amongst the best in the league this season.
