WWE: Is The Authority's return actually bad for business?

It was the first Raw of 2015, it was supposed to hook the viewer to new story lines heading up to The Royal Rumble but instead Monday Night Raw was a complete fiasco.

Raw itself definitely went downhill after The Authority left at Survivor Series, but that was expected because the fall out from The Authority being out of power didn't look like it was well thought out at all.

The guest general managers and hosts really didn't work and didn't give the product a stable build up, meaning that the best option WWE had was to bring back Triple H and Stephanie - Much to the dismay of the WWE Universe.

Terrible start

The Authority do play great heel characters and are experts at gaining heat from the crowd, but last night's Raw was possibly the worst start to the year that the company has ever had.

There was no continuation to hook viewers in for one. Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan and Ryback were all on the receiving end of beat downs from the returning Authority and not once did John Cena try and help the people who risked their careers for him just a few short months ago.

Not only that, the trio were then fired and still John Cena just stood by and took it all. Why didn't they attack The Authority? They had just lost their jobs and their reaction was to just stand and stare at Cena?

If there was some sort of attack then the viewer would want to tune in next week to see the consequences, now the trio wont be on Raw next week because they've been fired, but will probably be back in time for The Royal Rumble since Dolph is now one of the odds on favourites for the Rumble win.

Long running problem

This was one of the reasons that The Authority were no longer working as the power couple running the company, because all of the heels got what they wanted and when the faces came out on top they were put down again.

The WWE locker room is scared to act out against Stephanie and Triple H and it doesn't allow any story lines to properly develop because people are always involving themselves in matches that they don't belong in.

The hope now is that because of the way Triple H was referencing Sting last night, he will be back soon to finally take down The Authority for good. But what does the future then hold? Hopefully there is a decent back up and the product doesn't suffer due to bad management decisions.
