Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of 21-year old defender Todd Kane from Chelsea.

The full back joins the Championship club on loan until the end of the season.

Nottingham Forest confirmed Stuart Pearce had signed the Chelsea and England youth defender on their website today.

Kane has previously been out on loans at Preston and Blackburn but is ready for a new challenge at the City Ground.

The defender's most recent loan spell saw him make five appearances at Steve Cotterill's League One promotion hopefuls Bristol City.

Kane has never made an appearance for the Chelsea first team and will hoping that he can impress in the Championship where the Blues currently have two other players out on loan.

Patrick Bamford and Kenneth Omeruo both currently play for fourth placed Middlesbrough.

Stuart Pearce will be hoping that the signing of Kane will be the first of many to help them push on towards the playoff positions.

Forest started the season well winning four out of their first five games, however they haven't found anything like that form in months.

Pearce's side currently sit nine points adrift of the top six in 11th position and worringly haven't won any of their last six Championship games.

Their most recent outing was a 1-0 loss at League One Rochdale in the FA Cup third round.

Kane will be hoping to make his Forest debut on Saturday when Forest face Sheffield Wednesday at the City Ground.
