Rio Ferdinand, Joey Barton, Kyle Walker and Ade Akinfenwa came together with EA Sports FIFA to put together who they thought should be in the FIFA Ultimate Team ‘Team of the Year’ for this season and we’re here to tell you who they picked.

Obviously they had absolutely no choice but to include Ballon d’Or nominees Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Manuel Neuer and they were the three easiest players to pick.

Akinfenwa described the La Liga pair as “perfection and perfection” and when asked to compare the two said that “Messi is god-given, Ronaldo’s worked."

"For me, I think Ronaldo is complete.”

And Joey Barton was quick to agree explaining: “If we’re gonna say who’s the best player of last year, that’s Ronaldo, hands down.”

There were plenty of candidates for the central midfield area with Edin Hazard, Andres Iniesta narrowly missing out to Paul Pogba, Angel di Maria and Toni Kroos.

In the right back position they want for Philipp Lahm based on Pep Guardiola’s comments about him.

Rio Ferdinand explained that Guardiola saying “he’s the most intelligent football player he has ever coached, saying that when’s had Xavi, Iniesta and Messi.”

Joey Barton was quick to remind the group that Guardiola is yet to coach him though!
