Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has warned rival Louis van Gaal that he must win titles with Manchester United.

The two teams go head to head tomorrow and there is no love lost between the two managers. The pair fell out during their time together at Ajax and have not seen eye to eye since - and now Koeman has stirred the pot ahead of the game at Old Trafford.

Van Gaal is in his first season in charge with the Red Devils and has guided them to third place in the Premier League as he looks to help the club back into the Champions League. He spent around £150 million over the summer on a host of high-profile players and after a slow start is beginning to get the best out of them.

The Dutch boss may be targeting European qualification this season - but Koeman says he has to deliver the goods given the squad he has at his disposal.

"They have great players so it’s normal that they will fight for titles," he said.

"They have to. How you can spend that money, how can you sign that kind of players, and not be fighting to win titles?

"Everything is up to Manchester United. They have a very successful coach, they have great players, they have money, they have great fans, a great stadium. It's normal that you win titles."

Koeman will have the chance to gain revenge against his rival at Manchester United for Southampton's 2-1 defeat against the Red Devils earlier this season. The Saints dominated for much of the game but walked away with nothing and Koeman is hoping for a different result this time round - but insists his problems with Van Gaal are in the past.

"We had some problems in the past. We shake hands and I hope he will do well with United," said Koeman

"It would be special to beat him, but I lost the last time and we try to put it right this time."
