Roberto Mancini floored after taking ball to the face

Roberto Mancini is quite an active persona on the sidelines, kicking and heading every ball, as they say, but the Inter Milan manager definitely wouldn’t have wanted to head the one that actually connected with him on Sunday.

Inter were taking on Genoa in Serie A and the former Manchester City boss, where he won the Premier League, was a contented man the Nerazzuri were cruising to a 3-1 victory at the San Siro.

That is until captain Marco Andreolli did something his boss won’t forget in a while…actually, he may quite easily forget it. With just under 35 minutes left in the game and Inter cruising at 2-0, Andreolli reacted well to clear a loose ball in midfield.

Mancini’s problem was that the clearance was quite hard and straight at his head. The connection was clean and the former Italy striker went down, hard. He hit the deck as if a heavyweight champion had landed a haymaker on him.

For a brief moment there was some concern because of the way he fell, but Mancini had a smile on his face when the camera panned in on him - as did lots of other people around the legendary Milan stadium.

Inter eventually ran out 3-1 winners and inched up the Serie A table , stretching their unbeaten run to four games.
