Gonzalo Higuain’s agent has insisted that he has not spoken to Liverpool and has claimed that the Argentinean striker is happy at Napoli, according to Sky Sports.

The former Real Madrid man has been heavily linked with a January transfer move to Anfield after the arrival of Manolo Gabbiadini at Napoli.

The Reds were reportedly looking to arrange a £30 million deal for the Argentinean international in an attempt to rejuvenate their striking department – which has been firing blanks this season.

Liverpool Gonzalo chance of move

However, when asked about a potential move to England, Higuain’s agent Nicolas Higuain – who is also his brother – told Italian radio station Crc: "First of all, I have not spoken to any club because they have not contacted me and secondly, it would be disrespectful to Napoli.

"[Napoli’s president Aurelio] De Laurentiis is a great person, a man of honour and I couldn't behave incorrectly.

"I'm confident that the team can finish third [and qualify for the Champions League], then we'll see about Gonzalo's future.

"I haven't spoken with any team.

Happy Higuain

"Gonzalo is calm, he has a contract with Napoli and he's not planning to leave because he's happy."

The 27-year-old striker joined Napoli in the summer of 2013 after leaving Real Madrid, and signed a contract that will keep him at the Stadio San Paolo until at least 2018.

He has scored nine goals and assisted three more in 18 Serie A appearances for the Serie A giants.
