Former Women's Champion Beth Phoenix doesn't rule out WWE return

Beth Phoenix was one of the most dominant divas in WWE history and could be just the person to step in and save the current women's division, if she was called upon.

The former three time women's champion left WWE back in 2012 after she was "fired" by Vickie Guerrero, this was just a storyline because Phoenix had given her notice citing family reasons.

Time away

Since then Phoenix and former World Champion Edge welcomed their first child in December 2013 and she has since spent her time looking after the newest member of her family whilst Edge pursued his acting career.

Phoenix recently spoke to the Star Gazette about a possible return to ring action and what it was like to be one of the few WWE divas to wrestle men.

"I was very blessed. I could wrestle men or women. I was the powerhouse among the girls, so I could blend in and mix it up with the guys. I had no preference as long as there was a good story to tell, female or male, and that the crowd was entertained."

When asked if she would ever return to WWE she said: "Never say never. I'm very happy what I'm doing. But I'm still in fighting shape."

The WWE Royal Rumble is just days away and Beth is just one of only three women to take part in the 30-man Battle Royal.

Looking at the current crop of divas there is no women that could possibly take a place in that sort of match this year. The saviour of the division is out injured for the foreseeable future and it seems that Nikki Bella's step up has become rather underwhelming.

It seems WWE need someone to step up, and whilst rumours of Eve Torres and Maryse's returns are all well and good, a Beth Phoenix return return could well be the way forward for WWE in 2015.
