Football News

Despite a disappointing display at Anfield last night, Chelsea fans left Merseyside in great spirits after their side just about secured a 1-1 draw with Liverpool in the Capital One Cup semi-final first-leg.

And today, with attentions now turning to this weekend's FA Cup schedule, there's been a couple of interesting developments for the club in this January transfer window.

In truth, it has been a fairly quiet period for the high-flying Blues, but one deal may well be just around the corner.

Here's the big transfer stories coming out of Stamford Bridge today:

Cuadrado's agent heading to London

It appears that, despite the array of attacking talent already plying their trade at the Bridge, the Blues could yet secure a deal to bring Colombian ace Juan Cuadrado to the club in the coming weeks.

In fact, it has been widely reported that the Fiorentina man's agent is set to fly to London to discuss the move with the Blues' hierarchy tonight. It appears, though, that Chelsea will have to pay as much as £25 million for the highly rated Serie A ace.

Luka Modric will cost £48m

Despite the fact the Blues already have the duo of Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas in their ranks, it has been suggested that the Blues could enter the race to bring Real Madrid star Luka Modric back to the Premier League.

But he will come at a cost: £48 million is the price being quoted from a number of different reports today...

Oriol Romeu on his way out

Oriol Romeu is currently plying his trade in the Bundesliga at Stuttgart and he may well stay their on a permanent basis.

The Spaniard has admitted that his time at Chelsea could be up, but he doesn't know what the club have planned for him.

Gerrard on loan

And we will leave you with this: Jose Mourinho has jokingly suggested that he could take Liverpool's best player (Steven Gerrard) on loan next season...

He wouldn't, would he?!
