Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that there's a chance the club will land Villarreal defender Gabriel Paulista in this transfer window.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the club's FA Cup fourth round clash with Brighton, the Gunners boss revealed that there's a 50-50 chance the club will secure the player's services before the end of this transfer window.

Of late, a number of reports have linked the Gunners with a £10 million move for the Brazilian ace, but it now remains to be seen as to whether the club manage to get the deal over the line.

It's certainly not surprising that the Emirates outfit are swooping for the 24-year-old, who has impressed in La Liga in recent time. In fact, Villarreal haven't been defeated in any competition since November 6, with Paulista playing a key role for the club at the heart of the defence.

And, with Arsenal clearly in need of added cover in their back-line, the La Liga man would no doubt prove quite the coup for Wenger's side. After the club sold former captain Thomas Vermaelen to Spanish giants Barcelona in the last transfer window, the club have looked vulnerable at times at the back throughout the course of the campaign.

However, after the club's impressive victory over Premier League champions Manchester City this past weekend and the Paulista signing looking possible, things are certainly looking up for the Gunners as they look to climb the table.

In fact, Wenger has revealed that the club are willing to splash the cash on any player if the price is right. It remains to be seen, then, as to whether the club's spending spree continues over the coming weeks as the club go in search of improvement.

Arsenal fans, of course, will be hoping the Gunners secure their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup this weekend, as Wenger's side go in search of retaining their trophy.
