Stoke City striker Peter Crouch sent Twitter into meltdown last night after posting a hilarious picture of himself stood next to 5ft jockey Nathan Alison at Dubai's famous Racing Club.

The former England international is currently enjoying a warm-weather training camp in the United Arab Emirates after Mark Hughes decided to take his Potters players away for a mini-break to help recover from the gruelling Premier League schedule over the Christmas and New Year period.

After training on Thursday, Crouch decided to take in an evening of horse racing and was stopped by diminutive Tottenham fan Alison for a photograph, which was swiftly uploaded to social media as the pair joked about the obvious height difference between the jockey and the 6ft 7in footballer.

Alison was in attendance to cast an eye over potential opponents as he prepares to compete in a race on Friday. However, Crouch's attention will be firmly on his preparations for the forthcoming FA Cup fourth round clash against League One outfit Rochdale.

The Stoke squad are expected to fly back to the UK over the weekend in time for Monday night's match under the lights at Spotland, where Keith Hill's side will be looking to record a giant killing defeat against a significantly higher profile opponent.

Crouch's picture prompted a light-hearted reaction from a number of his 82,000+ followers, including former Liverpool team-mate Pepe Reina, who couldn't hide his amusement after seeing the snap pop up on his timeline.

Of course, it's not the first - and won't be the last - time that the beanpole striker has attracted attention for his off-field antics. Only last month, Crouch was spotted crowd-surfing at a Kasabian gig after Stoke's 3-2 victory over Arsenal at the Britannia Stadium.

Another reason why everyone loves Peter Crouch!
