Finn Balor suffers house show injury

The NXT superstars, divas and fans are now looking forward to the first Takeover special of the year which takes place on February 11, but a big match could be hanging in the balance after Finn Balor reportedly sustained an injury at a recent house show.

The live event was taking place on Friday January 23 in Cocoa Beach, Florida and Finn Balor was competing in a triple threat match against Adrian Neville and Hideo Itami, a fan report on PWInsider suggested that during this match Balor could have injured his ankle.

Balor reportedly sustained the injury just before intermission for the house show and it’s being said that Finn Balor injured his ankle early on in the match after Adrian Neville hit Balor with a Hurricarana.

Finn Balor still managed to finish the match, with the report saying he even hit a number of good springboards on both Adrian Neville and Hideo Itami even though it was clear that he didn’t look 100%.

Adrian Neville managed to pick up the victory when he hit a 450 Splash on Hideo Itami which effectively ended the match. It’s being reported that Balor didn’t waste any more time in the ring and rushed to the back and it looked as if he was putting his body weight on his better leg as the WWE medical team aided Finn Balor on his way to the back.

The potential injury news won’t come as great news for NXT fans, especially with the first Takeover of the year taking place in a few weeks and this will be Balor’s first Takeover as a singles superstar after he teamed with Hideo Itami where they defeated The Ascension at R Evolution.

Finn Balor is expected to have a great year in NXT and it’s being rumoured that he won’t be sticking around on NXT for a long time compared to other NXT superstars as his contract supposedly includes Balor moving up to the main roster quicker compared to others, and his talent and look cannot come to the main roster soon enough.

It’ll be wishful thinking from fans if they believe it’s a work, from what’s being reported the likelihood is that he will have to miss his number one contenders match with Adrian Neville in February if his injury is serious.

On the NXT tapings for the next couple of weeks, Finn Balor will go on to defeat Hideo Itami whilst Adrian Neville will defeat Tyson Kidd and then Baron Corbin to advance to the final against Balor.

It’s a match the fans want to see as it has the potential to steal the show, the main event between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn will be the challengers to take the match of the night title home.

If Balor is injured and is forced to miss it, then NXT will need to find a suitable replacement to compete in the final, possibly Hideo Itami; unless they decide to hold off on this match for a future date and Adrian Neville takes on a different superstar such as Curtis Axel to keep him busy on the night.

Teaming with Hideo Itami is also a possibility.

Hopefully the injury to Finn Balor is not too serious and he’s able to compete at Takeover, as a match against Adrian Neville would be a fantastic way to kick off 2015 for NXT.
