Manchester United fans all over the country–mostly London–nearly wet themselves when news filtered through that Louis van Gaal was trying to seal a move for Radamel Falcao on the summer transfer deadline day.
The Colombian striker was still recovering from a serious knee injury and had failed to find his goal scoring boots during his single season in France's Ligue 1 with AS Monaco. Regardless, Manchester United agreed to cover his £265,000-a-week wages and pay the principality club a gobsmacking £6 million in a one-off loan fee.
But just five months later and that excitement has well and truly worn off. 13 appearances have returned just three goals in the Premier League while niggling injuries and that pesky Robin van Persie are keeping him out of the team.
It looks very unlikely that Van Gaal will pay the £40 million or so required to make the deal permanent, with some Manchester United fans urging him to cancel their agreement with AS Monaco and save themselves a whole heap of cash.
One Manchester United fan has gone a lot further than others. He used a little known auction website called Done Deal to advertise Falcao's services. The auction is still running with Falcao currently available for the reasonable price of £1.
Not only that, but the anonymous and clearly disgruntled fan is also offering to chuck Anderson into the bargain as well. Imagine getting two Manchester United players for less than your morning coffee.
The ad read: "Need to sell immediately!
"He currently has no talent and hates Michael Carrick.
"Falcao more like fall over!!!!!!!!!!!" (terrible joke)
"He is demanding 300,000 grand a week and refuses to speak with fletcher [sic} due to hair differences. He is very moody and never takes his naps when he's on the bench!"
