WWE legend Jim Ross has spoken out in the wake of Roman Reigns' Royal Rumble win and the negative reaction Reigns received from fans in Philadelphia.
Reigns won himself an automatic shot for Brock Lesnar's world heavyweight championship, but it wasn't greeted with the cheers and applause that Vince McMahon would have been hoping of from his company's new top babyface.
Rock and Reigns
Instead, Reigns got booed the hell out of the Wells Fargo Center and even into the car park according to reports, with not even an appearance from The Rock saving him from a savage fan reception.
WWE hall of famer Ross has come out and had his take on what's happened, comparing Reigns situation and start to his career as a top face to his cousin, Dwayne Johnson.
"Roman Reigns is now in touchy situation and how he comes out of all this is going to be provocative to follow," Ross said on his blog today.
"The Rock had some of the same issues back in the day when he debuted as in the infamous :"Die Rocky Die" chants and signs we used to see. seen Reigns as a big star in the future and I'm curious to see it Sunday night's experiences will help him in the long haul."
Paul Heyman Guy?
Interestingly, Ross dropped that proposal that Reigns could link up with Paul Heyman to do the dirty on his Mania opponent Lesnar in order to take the WWE's top crown.
"What if Reigns shockingly aligned himself with Paul Heyman and the two of them conspired to beat Lesnar at WM31? Stranger things have happened."
I think that if Reigns keeps getting that level of heat through till WrestleMania then the WWE will have no choice but to turn him heel just like they did with Batista. Either that or give him a stable to manage/team him up with Daniel Bryan and turn them into a two-man wrecking crew against the Authority.
