Could big name additions be the key to saving the WrestleMania main event

The Royal Rumble this past Sunday didn't quite end the way that the company would have been hoping for.

Roman Reigns' dramatic victory in the 30-man over-the-top-rope battle was met with a chorus of boos rather than the expected jubilation.

Even an appearance by the Rock wasn't enough to silence the WWE Universe who were visibly unhappy with how the show ended.

Fans clearly weren't happy with the shows conclusion and the cancellation of Monday Night RAW the following night may have proven to be a good thing.

RAW was cancelled due to the extreme weather around Connecticut but the time off may have given them some creative ideas.

Tonight aired the first live Smackdown for several years and the show opened with COO Triple H in the ring.

Triple H announced that he would be making a big announcement this coming Monday on RAW that would 'end the controversy' surrounding the Royal Rumble.

Who knows what the mystery announcement could be but it will undoubtedly be something to try and save the main event of WrestleMania XXXI.

If the WWE Universe continue to reject Reigns as their leading man heading to WrestleMania, then could the WWE look to add a bit more to their main event?

The match to headline them all

Brock Lesnar's appearances on the road to WrestleMania will as always, be limited so they may need someone for Reigns to star with ahead of the big event on a weekly basis.

They would be unlikely to do another triple threat match for the title given that there was one at the Royal Rumble.

Likewise, Daniel Bryan could be a difficult name to work into the story given that he was the man left standing at the end of WrestleMania XXX.

An exact repeat of last years event could leave fans bored so this year, I think a match that would save their main event plans would be a fatal 4-way match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Reigns and Lesnar would naturally be there at the end of the show but who else would deserve to be there?

The other contenders

Whilst the WWE may not want to use repetition, they do love balance so it would be likely to contain two heel superstars and two face superstars.

With Lesnar as the champion and an established heel, the main name to join them in the match has to be arguably the top heel in the company right now, Seth Rollins.

Rollins put in a great showing in the triple threat match on Sunday and would surely bring his unique blend of offense to a huge main event such as this.

As for the role of the second face star, there could be quite a few contenders who're all without a feud right now.

Randy Orton is scheduled to return soon and is rumoured to be targeting the man who put him out of action - who just so happens to be Seth Rollins.

Orton would make sense but would also be a superstar who has been used many times to headline events.

A new name who could feature would the Lunatic Fringe Dean Ambrose who is arguably one of the most popular superstars in the WWE right now.

Ambrose has shown he has the ability to create great matches with Rollins and his chemistry with Reigns would give Mania a great ending.

The third and final option however could be the only man who got a cheer from the crowd from entry number 28 onwards at the Rumble, Dolph Ziggler.

The fans booing really started when Ziggler went out and with the Show-off already being given a major push towards the end of 2014, he is fully deserving of a WrestleMania main event spot.

What do you think GiveMeSport fans? How can the WWE salvage their WrestleMania main event? Is there anyone else you'd like to see in this match? Or will Reigns vs Lesnar come good in the end? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
