Football News

This week's episode of Smackdown was aired live thanks to the cancellation of Monday night's RAW after the very harsh weather that hit Connecticut.

With a live Smackdown came some big appearances from superstars not usually seen on the show and some big matches.

We were treated to a mammoth confrontation, a special tease and a casket match to close out the show.

The Show began with WWE COO Triple H in the ring and discussing the events of the last few days - most notably the chorus of boos that greeted the conclusion of the Royal Rumble.

When fans began to boo once again, he revealed that this Monday on RAW, he will make an announcement that will shake the WWE Universe to its very core.

Intrigue has certainly been built ahead of RAW and the entire WWE Universe are wanting to see how the company will appease the fans who were so outraged on Sunday night.

The man who won the Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns then came down to the ring in order to remind Triple H that he was the one who won the match and guaranteed himself a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXXI.

Daniel Bryan vs Kane (Casket match)

The long awaited conclusion to the Kane vs Daniel Bryan feud would take place in a casket match as both men tried everything they could to force their opponent into the wooden box.

The two men brawled all around the ring with the WWE Universe chanting 'no!' whenever Bryan was close to entering the casket.

Eventually Bryan got the win after finally being able to close the casket on the Devil's favourite demon and end the show by leading the fans in a 'Yes!' chant.

Roman Reigns vs Big Show

After Reigns confronted Triple H, he was then forced to go one-on-one with the Big Show in what was a very physical match.

Reigns actually received a good reception by the fans in this match with the downfalls of Sunday seemingly in the past.

Reigns eventually took Big Show over the top rope in a symbolic action from Sunday and he eventually picked up the win to surely end the feud between the two.

John Cena and Rusev

After it was announced on Monday that Rusev and John Cena will go one-on-one at Fastlane, the two were advised to go face-to-face tonight.

Rusev and Lana began the segment in the ring and they once again questioned the talent in America claiming they had beaten everyone.

Eventually Cena came out and the two got ready to fight but Lana took the Bulgarian Brute away before we could see the two powerhouses go at it.

Seth Rollins open challenge

Still revelling in his performance from the Royal Rumble in the triple threat title match, Seth Rollins was filled with confidence.

Rollins came down accompanied by J&J Security and showed his confidence by issuing an open challenge to anyone in the locker-room who thinks they can beat him.

Out came the Big Guy Ryback who fell to the numbers game and drew out Erick Rowan who powered through the security service.

When both Rowan and Ryback were out, Dolph Ziggler came to help the cause and left Rollins sprinting back into the locker-room.

Gold and Stardust vs the Ascension

The Ascension's rise up the card continued tonight as the problems for the Rhodes brothers continued.

The two clashed in the Royal Rumble and their problems continued tonight against the up and coming tag team.

Goldust had the Ascension on the ropes until Stardust tagged himself into the match and that proved costly as he failed to really do anything to stop the newcomers getting the win.

Jey Uso vs Tyson Kidd

The push for Cesaro and Tyson Kidd continued as they backed up a win over the New Day at the Royal Rumble up.

Tyson Kidd was in singles action against one half of the Tag Team Champions in Jey Uso.

Kidd would walk out victorious to a big reception with many fans hoping to see this makeshift team rise to the top.

Paige and Nikki Bella

It was announced tonight that Paige will challenge Nikki Bella for the Divas championship at Fastlane.

Paige was giving a backstage interview when she was attacked by Nikki Bella and her sister Brie as the pre- WrestleMania possibilities here stack up quite highly.
