PSG defender David Luiz has tipped John Terry to extend his stay with Chelsea beyond the rest of this season, reports the Mirror.

Luiz, who partnered Terry at the heart of Chelsea's back-line at times during his stint at Stamford Bridge, has hailed the club's captain, insisting that he's having 'another great season'.

The flamboyant Brazilian ace will, of course, return to the Bridge in March when his new side take on the Blues in the Round of 16 second-leg Champions League clash.

When speaking about Terry, Luiz told reporters: “I played next to John for a long time. He is having another great season with Chelsea, maybe one of his best.

“I am sure there is no question about Chelsea renewing his contract for another season, with the way he is playing he has made it impossible for them not to."

Luiz has also backed his former side to win the Premier League this season, insisting that the likes of Terry, Petr Cech and Didier Drogba will prove a big influence over the course of the coming weeks and months.

He continued by saying: “I do think Chelsea are the strongest team in England, and although there are many games left, I think they will win the league.

“They have the lead now and I think they have the players there who have the mental ability to cope with the pressure of being top.

“Players like John, Petr Cech and Didier Drogba have all done it before, they know what it takes. They will be a big influence on the younger players in the dressing room.”

In fact, Chelsea can take a huge step towards securing the title this evening as they play host to champions Manchester City. If the Blues secure the points then they will move eight points clear of their rivals.
