The Cleveland Cavaliers have won 11 straight games but it seems that one of their star players is struggling despite such a great run.
Big man Kevin Love hasn't had the best of starts to his career in Cleveland, with the former Minnesota Timberwolves man averaging well below his career scoring level in his debut season.
And it seems that even his teammates are picking up on it. After last nights comfortable win over the Philadelphia 76ers, LeBron James spoke about Love's lack of shooting.
Love shot 1-of-7 in the first 12 minutes of the game and didn’t attempt a single shot after the first quarter. This all from a man who has previously proven to be an excellent scorer. James revealed that he thought Love was suffering from a crisis of confidence.
“I think Kev had some shots that he passed up on. Maybe he felt that he just wasn’t in a good rhythm, but I know I hit him with a few [potential] shots after the first quarter where he had some good looks when he decided to swing-swing [with a pass], which is OK, it kept the ball moving," James said according to ESPN.
"I think his confidence maybe shooting the ball is a little down, but for me as a player, I get him good looks. I want him to shoot the ball and he needs to shoot it with confidence.”
Love is very lucky that the Cavs are winning right now. If they were even on something small like a three or four game losing streak then he would be being looked at a hell of a lot more closely under the microscope.
The Cavs turnaround has been down to their improved defense as of far, of which Love is becoming an integral part, he had a +/- of +26 in the game against the Sixers despite his lowly scoring, which just shows how effective he has been.
The 11 game streak gives the Cavs the scope to try and get Love back in his offensive groove, let's just hope it all comes back to him before the playoffs. If it doesn't then Cleveland may struggle when it comes to the post-season.
